However, if you want a warmer effect on your shots, with sharp colours, you perhaps want to set the white balance setting to “cloudy” instead of auto. It is similar with adding a mild warming filter to the your camera lens. Cloudy setting will increase the yellow and red colours that will be adding a richer and warmer effect to your shots.

2. Polarizing filters can be your most important investments you can add to your digital camera. This filter will reduce the glare and unwanted reflections on your shots. This is a great add when you often take landscape and outdoor shots. Pictures that are taken with a polarizer will have richer and more saturated colours.

If your camera does not allow this kind of filters, like a simple point-and-shoot camera, don’t fret! You still be able to have a polarizing effect on your shots by placing a pair of sunglasses with a good quality in front of your camera lens. By doing this, it will give a similar effect to a polarizer. You need to make sure that you place the glasses as close as possible to the lens and the rims are not seen.

3. For any outdoor shots under the sunshine, always use your camera’s “flash on” or “fill flash” feature. Doing this will lets you control when you want the flash to go off, instead of it deciding when it wants to. This mode exposes the background first then adding enough flash to illuminate the subject.

For greater results, place your subject so the sun illuminates the hair from the side or back. However, if you want to let your subject more comfortable and not be annoyed by the sun’s heat, place your model under the shade then use the camera flash to illuminate the subject.

You need to understand that built-in flashes only have a maximum range of 10 feet. From this reason, it would be better not to go too far from your subject.

4. Taking a detailed shot of objects, just like flowers or small insects for example, is easy with your digital camera. Almost all digital cameras have a feature called “close up” or “macro mode” that usually indicated by a flower sign. Using this feature turned on, you can take shots any objects as close as possible. However, you can only get a shallow field-depth when taking close up pictures so it will be better to focus on the most important part of the subject, and then allow the other parts of the image go soft.
